Food and Meals
The schedule
of events
includes several group meals. These are planned primarily for
commissioners and advisory delegates; other participants may
purchase tickets to these meals using the ticket
order form .
Many of the optional events listed in the
schedule include a meal. We recommend ordering tickets in advance
for these events.
Those who are on their own for meals will
find restaurants located near the convention center, in addition
to hotel restaurants and a café located in the convention
center.
Indicate on your registration
form
any allergies or other special meal requests if you will be
participating in any of the group meals for commissioners and
advisory delegates or the optional ticketed events that include
meals.
Children at the Assembly
The General Assembly is primarily a business
meeting, with very long and busy days and few family oriented
activities. Child care options in or near downtown Richmond
are very limited. Parents are encouraged to carefully consider
whether to bring their children to the assembly, and to explore
other arrangements with family or their usual child care provider.
The Committee on Local Arrangements and the
Office of the General Assembly are compiling information on
facilities and programs that may have a few spaces available
for children of assembly attendees. You may request this information
when you register
online, or check the box on page 1 using the printed
registration form .
Parents will be responsible for determining the suitability
of these programs for their children, for any necessary transportation,
and for paying the provider directly for the services. Expect
early registration deadlines.
Arrangements For Persons With Disabilities
The convention center and all but one of the
assembly hotels are accessible by wheelchair. The following
services will be made available for those who request them in
advance:
- Headsets for amplification during business
meetings and opening worship
- Real-time captioning of business meetings
- Sign language interpretation during opening
worship, daily worship, and business meetings
- Braille copies of worship services (available
at those services)
If you have a need for these or other services,
or have a health condition relevant to your participation, please
indicate so when you register. Contact the GA
Meeting Service in advance regarding any special needs so
that we may provide the necessary assistance. During the assembly,
a special assistance counter in the convention center lobby
will be staffed.
Spanish And Korean Interpretation
Volunteers will provide simultaneous Spanish
and Korean interpretation during the business meetings. Please
indicate whether you will have need of this service when you
register.
